İSTANBUL (TR) – Begim Başlıgil, CEO of Bulutistan, a Turkish cloud system integrator offering hybrid cloud solutions, reminded their promise in 2015 when they were founded, “When 350 of the 500 largest companies in Turkey started using our products, we said that we would share our experiences in this process. In achieving our goal, we kept our promise and developed recommendations for companies journey to the cloud, studying our customers’ cloud experience in detail.”
Companies care most about agility and speed
Stating which criteria their customers take into consideration while entering the cloud transformation process and what their main goals are, Başlıgil said, “In the digital age we are in, agility and speed come first with 56%. In second place is scaling with 39%. In order to adapt to the different priorities and strategies of companies, technology providers must also be able to grow and shrink very quickly. The fact that cloud technologies offer a flexible structure is one of the most important reasons for companies to choose.”
Cost advantage is in the last place among the reasons for preference
Stating that the third criterion that companies consider in transition to cloud technologies is independence with 29%, Bulutistan CEO said, “The most important factor in the establishment of independent technological infrastructures is of course financial comfort. It is possible for large companies to establish this technological infrastructure. Many of our customers want to establish an independent structure specific to them and cloud technologies can meet this expectation.” Stating that those who prioritize superior performance in cloud transition are in the fourth place with 27%, Başlıgil said, “The most striking issue in our research is the cost advantage. Only 18% of those who prefer cloud technologies state that the cost advantage is at the forefront, which shows us that cloud computing products stand out with other superior features such as speed, performance and independence, not cost compared to their counterparts.”
Performance, safety and responsibilities should be determined when choosing a partner
Speaking about the issues that need to be considered while choosing a partner in the transition to cloud technologies, Begim Başlıgil said, “Contracts must have a security and performance audit. So you can always control the quality of the service you receive. The responsibilities to be undertaken by technology providers also need to be clearly defined. It is important to make umbrella agreements with the technology companies to work with.”
“Integrations and harmony are very important”
Drawing attention to the know-how of technology providers on integrations, Begim Başlıgil said, “Recently, we see that container infrastructures are ready in software that has transformed from virtual servers to micro service architectures. While moving to cloud technologies in digital transformation, the technology provider you work with should support you in this regard. Benefiting more from Opensource software, your digital transformation roadmap and your cloud transformation roadmap should sit on top of each other. Let’s talk about which project RPA (robotic process automation), blockchain, Big Data all generate data and it is important to process them synchronously.”
“Do not use infrastructures that are not licensed for critical issues”
Highlighting the most common mistakes made in transition to cloud technologies, Begim Başlıgil said, “According to our inferences from 350 customers who worked with us for 6 years and many of them experienced different infrastructure providers before, we need to move away from the committed world immediately. The approach that we will get a good price if we make a commitment, we will get a bad price if we don’t. In addition, we should never forget the legal process of the business in the cloud transformation process. I recommend that you do not use infrastructures that are not licensed by you for critical issues for your business. You can benefit from SaaS (Software as a Service) in many areas, but it will be beneficial to act with structures that you can use within the company in critical matters, independent of everyone.”
“Never accept mediocre”
Stating that companies should determine their digital transformation and transition strategies to cloud technologies, Begim Başlıgil ended his words as follows: “You should set your priorities yourself, not according to the strategies of the structures that will offer technology to you. You should never give up scale. If growth is achieved with developments, you may have to make a sudden infrastructure change. Never accept the mediocre. Technology brands that offer you infrastructure have to offer the best.”
