Many organizations have been using the same management methods for a long time, which is one of the reasons why they are going downhill. Several current management strategies have become outmoded in today’s world. As technology has taken over various aspects of life, it has also taken over organizations; thus, they must be up-to-date and agile to deal with constant change. This is the main reason Dr. Gitlow synthesized Deming-based Lean Six Sigma management.
Dr. Gitlow invested 45 years of knowledge to develop a comprehensive and up-to-date theory of management. He is also a Six Sigma Master Black Belt who has thoroughly articulated the idea such that anyone, regardless of organization size, may use it right now. Hisareas of expertise are Dr. Deming’s management theory, the administrative systems of the Japanese Way of Total Quality Control, Six Sigma management, and Lean Manufacturing.
Dive Into The Theory
Dr. Gitlow received his Ph.D. in Statistics from New York University in 1974, his MBA in 1972, and his BS in Statistics in 1969. He then began teaching in 1974 andhas been a Full Professor of Management Science since 1979 at the Miami Herbert Business School. Aside from that, he was a visiting faculty member at NYU from 2007 to 2014 and at the Science University of Tokyo in 1990 under the direction of Dr. Noriaki.
His approach is totally data-driven and up-to-date; thus, your data must be reliable to get correct results. Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management consists of three components: (1) the Macro Model (dashboards without irrational targets, goals, quotas, or deadlines), (2) the Micro Model (projects and tasks that replace the needs for performance appraisal systems), and (3) the Management Model (Dr. Deming’s Theory of Management, known as the System of Profound Knowledge). The SDSA cycle, PDSA cycle, Six Sigma DMAIC, and DMADV models, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies are commontools and methods for process improvement.
