Dr. Joan believes that the first step in this process is to simply acknowledge the reality that every one of us is capable of bringing our own pleasure into the world. Dr. Joan always asks herself throughout the day, what is she sculpting? Is she creating things that bring beauty and peace? This could be by reading a good book, helping someone in need, or checking in with a friend. She also asks herself if she is engaging in things that tear her sculpture down. This could mean thinking negatively about a cricket or football match, becoming frustrated by things that are out of her control, and the list goes on. Just like there are opportunities throughout the day to welcome peace, there are opportunities to welcome frustration and negativity.
